Maestro: A Gamified Platform for Teaching AI Robustness

Although the prevention of AI vulnerabilities is critical to preserve safety and privacy users businesses, educational tools for robust are still underdeveloped worldwide. We present design, implementation, assessment Maestro. Maestro an effective open-source game-based platform that contributes advancement education. provides "goal-based scenarios" where college students exposed challenging life-inspired assignments in a "competitive programming" environment. assessed Maestro's influence on students' engagement, motivation, learning success AI. This work also insights into design features online promote active opportunities domain. analyzed reflection responses (measured with Likert scales) 147 undergraduate using two quarterly courses According results, who felt acquisition new skills tended appreciate highly scored material consolidation, curiosity, maestry Moreover, leaderboard, our key gamification element Maestro, has effectively contributed engagement learning. Results indicate can be adapted any course length depth without losing its quality.
